{"id":188,"date":"2009-01-07T19:39:39","date_gmt":"2009-01-07T19:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/?p=188"},"modified":"2009-01-07T19:39:39","modified_gmt":"2009-01-07T19:39:39","slug":"wednesday-24th-december-christmas-eve-chuck-and-leaving-los-angeles-temporarily","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/?p=188","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday 24th December &#8211; Christmas Eve, Chuck and leaving Los Angeles (temporarily)."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It got to 11AM which was slightly concerning as Chuck was meant to be collecting me at ten.\u00a0 I borrowed someone&#8217;s mobile and called Brad who expressed concern that Chuck had not arrived having left an hour earlier in his car!\u00a0 As I was on the phone Chuck walked in and it was cool to see him.\u00a0 We left the hostel and headed across town to Brad&#8217;s house.\u00a0 Brad is one of Chuck&#8217;s oldest friends and a very cool guy.\u00a0 It soon transpired that Brad and Chuck liked to argue like an old married couple, much to my amusement.\u00a0 I decided that, as it was Christmas Eve, snowballs were in order and headed out to buy ingredients.\u00a0 I quite enjoyed the walk and was pleased by the number of Banksy&#8217;s in the area.\u00a0 When I got to the store I waited to ask the guy in the alcohol section a question and realised that, not only was he English, the two people infront of me were also.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure who was more bemused, me or him.\u00a0 As it turned out they didn&#8217;t have advocat and I was sent to a store across the road.\u00a0 When I asked a member of staff where their advocat was they thought I wanted avocados, which was useful.\u00a0 It turns out that America doesn&#8217;t really do Advocat so I had to settle for some vodka and eggnog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Back at Brad&#8217;s he managed to make rather nice drinks given the slightly random ingredients.\u00a0 Later on we headed out of town with Brad who was going to his relative&#8217;s for Christmas.\u00a0 Brad was driving and the traffic was awful.\u00a0 One source of continual amusement was Chuck and Brad&#8217;s banter, a large amount of which revolved around Chuck asking Brad if he was sure that he wasn&#8217;t allowed to smoke in the car.\u00a0 Eventually we arrived at the parking lot where Brad&#8217;s brother and family were to meet him and Chuck and I left for Sandiego.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After some time, a slurpee and a hot dog we decided that it was a bit late to continue driving and found a hotel by St. Clements.\u00a0 The lady on reception told us that there was only one room left and that it smelled of mildew but that she could give it to us for fifty dollars.\u00a0 Armed with a big tin of &#8220;Febreeze&#8221; we headed upstairs to check it out.\u00a0 When we got to the room both Chuck and I were pleasantly surprised.\u00a0 Although there was a bit of a tang, the room was huge and nice and I thought that the woman really should see some of the places I had stayed in.\u00a0 We took the room and crashed out for the\u00a0night on a comfortable bed in a room smelling of air freshener.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It got to 11AM which was slightly concerning as Chuck was meant to be collecting me at ten.\u00a0 I borrowed someone&#8217;s mobile and called Brad who expressed concern that Chuck had not arrived having left an hour earlier in his car!\u00a0 As I was on the phone Chuck walked in and it was cool to [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/188"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=188"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/188\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=188"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=188"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.zelmastrip.com\/wordpress\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=188"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
