So, the start of my journey….<\/p>\n
Having left to get to Heathrow with plenty of time for the suggested 3
\nhour prior to arrival check-in, we traveled almost the whole journey in
\ngridlock on the M25.\u00a0 It turned out that the suggested 3 hours was overly
\ncautious though and I caught my plane in plenty of time.\u00a0 Unfortunately
\nthe plane was completely full so there was no possibility to try and blag
\nan upgrade.\u00a0 It was a mahusive plane with two floors.\u00a0 I was sat in the
\nmiddle of a sweet little Old Eastern lady and a youngish boy with his
\nextended family to my right.\u00a0 Prior to take off I spent a couple of minues
\nwondering what the pouch under the old lady’s top was.\u00a0 I considered the
\nfact that she may be a suicide bomber and then tried to reassure myself
\nthat she was a lovely old lady.\u00a0 This didn’t help as I then realised that
\nshe was traveling alone (yes much like myself, but I don’t have -quite-
\nsuch a large paunch).\u00a0 Needless to say the lump turned out to be a bum bag
\nand she was lovely and helped me with my various gubbins when I had to
\nclambour over her to go to the toilet.<\/p>\n
The plane itself was nice with decent meals, free drinks and snacks.\u00a0 Each
\nseat had a screen with various films, music, games etc.\u00a0 I was greatly
\namused by this when the boy to my right made numerous attempts to watch
\ncompletely unsuitable films for his age.\u00a0 His mother, needless to say, was
\nsomehat less amused.\u00a0 when he fell asleep I took the opportunity to watch
\n‘No room for old men’.\u00a0 Unfortunately he woke up half way through and
\nseemed enthralled by the various shootings, blood and gore.\u00a0 His mother
\nlooked on disparigingly but I was relatively into the film at this stage
\nso did not really want to stop it.\u00a0 She took it upon herself to put a film
\non for her son which, to me, seeemd to basically amount to soft porn with
\na quasi-feminist message.\u00a0 She seemed to delight in the ’empowerment’ the
\nwomen gained in doing seedy dancing for men, seducing them and then going
\non to preverbially ‘do them over’.\u00a0 This seemed to divert the boys’ eyes
\nfrom my film.\u00a0 So I guess that the message here is that soft ‘pro-woman’
\nporn is a gopd thing for young boys to watch, whereas dark violence is
\nnot.<\/p>\n
The rest of the flight passed without incident and I arrived in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
